Four chairs, one unhurried appointment

We keep the floor small on purpose. One stylist, one client, no double-booking — so your consultation, cut and finish all happen in the time you booked.

The studio

A small floor, published prices, and a plan you agreed to

Brass Grove is a four-chair studio built around long-form appointments. Every service on this page lists the time it takes and the price it starts from, so nothing is decided at the desk on your way out.

Most of our work is precision cutting, lived-in colour and repair for hair that has been over-processed. We are equally happy to keep something simple exactly as it is — a good haircut does not have to be a project.

  • Good fitGrown-out colour you want to soften, curls and waves cut dry, fine hair that needs shape rather than bulk, and men's scissor work.
  • Honest limitsWe do not offer extensions, permanent straightening or same-day platinum lifts on previously boxed-dyed hair.
  • No upsellingIf a treatment will not change the result, we will say so and take it off the bill.
  • Quiet slotsThe first appointment of each day is kept music-low and conversation-optional. Ask for it when you write to us.

Your visit

What happens, in order

First appointments take a little longer than repeat ones. Here is the whole sequence so nothing arrives as a surprise.

  1. Step 01

    Write to us

Send the form at the foot of this page with a rough idea of what you want and the days that suit you. We reply with two or three options and a confirmed price band.

  2. Step 02

    Patch test, if colour

Every colour service needs a skin test at least 48 hours before. It takes five minutes at the door and we can do it during your consultation.

  3. Step 03

    Ten minutes in the mirror

Before anything is wet, we look at your hair dry, talk about how you actually style it on a normal morning, and agree the plan. Changing your mind here costs nothing.

  4. Step 04

    Finish and home care

We show you how the shape was dried, write down the two products that matter, and note what we did so the next stylist on the floor can pick it up.

Questions

Asked before booking

My colour has grown out badly. Can it be fixed in one visit?

Usually the line can be softened in one appointment with a root melt and a toner. Lifting an old dark band to a light blonde is a staged job across two or three visits, spaced four to six weeks apart, to keep the hair intact. We will tell you which one you are looking at during the consultation, before you commit.

Do you cut curly hair dry or wet?

Dry, in its natural state, unless you always wear it straightened. Priya cuts curl by curl so you can see the shape forming rather than guessing what will happen as it dries. Come with your curls defined the way you normally wear them — second-day hair is ideal.

Why does colour need a patch test every time?

Sensitivity can develop at any point, including to a formula you have used for years, so the test is repeated if it has been more than six months since your last colour with us. It takes five minutes at the door and has to sit for 48 hours, which is why colour cannot be booked for the same day you write to us.

Can I change stylists without it being awkward?

Yes, and you do not need a reason. We keep shared notes on formula, sections and finishing, so whoever you sit with can pick up exactly where the last appointment left off. Just name the stylist you would like when you write to us.

What if I change my mind once I am in the chair?

That is what the first ten minutes are for. Nothing is cut or mixed until you have agreed the plan, and if you decide to go shorter, keep more length or skip a treatment, the price is adjusted to what we actually do. If your new idea needs more time than we have booked, we will do the part that fits properly and book the rest.

Do you take children, and do they need their own appointment?

We cut from around age five, on weekday mornings when the floor is quiet, and yes — each child needs their own slot so nobody is rushed. Under twelves are half the adult cut price. You are welcome to sit alongside the chair.

What happens if I miss my appointment?

The first time, nothing at all. After that, for appointments longer than two hours, we ask for half the service price before rebooking, because a missed colour slot is an afternoon no other client could use. Cancel any time up to 24 hours ahead and none of that applies.
